Cotton Ball

2010

Fan, cotton, fishing wire, construction lamp.

Beelitz Heilstätten, Germany

In a narrow room, an old fan is hanging from the

ceiling. Shreds of cotton are spread around the

room. Randomly the fan is turned on.

After some time a bundle of cotton raises from

the floor spinning towards the fan. When the

cotton reaches the fan it shatters, causing small

pieces of cotton to fly around clinging to the walls.

The small performance was limited to only a few

minutes. The amount of cotton increased through

out the exhibition as a indicator of the continuing

event.
