WaschbrunnenBuilt in the 16th century, Schloss Gleina stands in the small town of Gleina in eastern Germany. Since 2012, restoration efforts have been underway to retore the castle to its former glory.

During the DDR era, the castle was briefly repurposed as a retirement home. The installation Waschbrunnen was created from reclaimed sinks found in the castle’s cellar – remnants of a brief chapter in the castle's history.

Presented as a memorial to the castle’s forgotten past, Waschbrunnen was displayed for the public during European Heritage Day in 2013.
